Niagara Falls: Interesting facts. Where they are, height, map

Aktualizováno: January 2026

Niagara Falls was definitely one of the highlights of our USA road trip. After spending two days in New York and a short stop in Boston, we got in the car and headed towards them. The journey was long, but who could resist seeing one of the world’s most famous natural wonders with their own eyes?

Niagara Falls – Interesting Facts

  • Total flow: up to 2,400 m³ per second
  • Height of the waterfalls: 51 meters
  • The Horseshoe Falls lies mostly in Canada
  • The American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls are on the American side
  • It is visited by over 12 million people annually

How we got to Niagara Falls

We arrived at Niagara Falls (USA) around 5 PM. We wandered around for a while, but eventually found the right parking lot – by the way, you can recognize it by the balloon that hangs above it, so the orientation isn’t that difficult.

When we got out, we were greeted by a view of the Hard Rock Café, where half a car and the words Beatles peek out from the wall. And then we headed to the waterfalls themselves. On the way, we passed a statue of Nikola Tesla – it’s no coincidence that it’s here, because we owe Tesla for using the waterfalls to generate electricity.

First impression?

Honestly – I expected them to be bigger. But when you get closer, you understand the power of the water that falls from Lake Erie and continues into Lake Ontario. The roar is incredible.

Experience under the waterfalls

We got yellow raincoats – they smelled a bit, but they worked. We walked right under the waterfalls, where the water mist falls on you, and you actually feel like you are part of that mass of water. This simply must be experienced.

If you are planning something similar, pay attention to how you put on your raincoat – a few people in our group ended up soaked to the bone.

Night laser show

After dinner in a cheap motel Lodge Ekonomy, we went back to the waterfalls. In the evening, there is a laser show, when Niagara Falls is illuminated with different colors. On the other side of the river, Canada shines and the whole atmosphere is completely different than during the day.

The night laser show at the waterfalls is one of the experiences you won’t forget.

Kde kupujeme vstupenky

Neradi celá rodina čekáme ve frontě. Kdo máte malé děti, je vám to jasné. Proto můžete na stránkách GetYourGuide koupit online vstupenky na mnoho míst, kde byste jinde stáli frontu. A v zahraničí klidně i výlety, kde byste jinak u cestovky platili 2x tolik.

Kde koupit zážitky

Každý určitě zná web Slevomat. Zde máte na výběr z mnoha zážitků, což může být ideální dárek.
